This boat is Yamaha’s 19-foot open runabout, the “Sun Friend 19 (GTG),” which is well-known for its manageable size and excellent maneuverability. As this boat has a long history dating back to its launch as a new vessel in Heisei 8 (1996), the entire hull has lost its gloss and shows signs of chalking (whitening), and signs of aging—such as minor scratches and dirt resulting from normal use—are visible in various places. However, upon stepping onto the deck, there was absolutely none of the “spongy, sinking feeling” often found in older boats; instead, I got the impression that the thick, sturdy FRP structure—a hallmark of Yamaha boats—has retained its structural rigidity. Additionally, since thorough maintenance around the hull—including recent hull cleaning and repainting—has been performed, the fact that it is ready to hit the water immediately as a moored boat is a major advantage. While the exterior appearance reflects its age, the hull’s basic structure and undercarriage are still in excellent condition. It just passed its boat inspection in March of this year (2026), so it’s great to know there’s plenty of time left on its valid inspection period. The engine is a Yamaha 50-horsepower two-stroke outboard (Model: 6H5 / 50HETO). Since there is no hour meter, the exact total operating hours are unknown. The current owner has maintained the boat regularly and most recently completed maintenance on [May 14, Reiwa 8 (2026)], which included replacing engine consumables and the battery. However, since this is an older two-stroke engine, even with annual maintenance, it cannot be denied that it is nearing the end of its mechanical lifespan due to age. Therefore, to ensure the next owner can use the boat safely and with peace of mind, we recommend either having it overhauled before taking it out on the water or considering it as a “low-cost base hull intended for replacement with a modern 4-stroke engine.” This boat is moored and stored at a marina in Yokohama City, Kanagawa Prefecture.
